World T20: Oman upset Ireland in Group A qualifier
DHARAMSALA: Oman defeated Ireland by two wickets in their World Twenty20 Group A qualifier at Dharamsala on Wednesday evening, ARY News reported.
Ireland, winning the toss and chose to bat first, scored 154/5 in their 20 overs.
Gary Wilson made 38 runs from 34 balls while William Porterfield and Paul Stirling made 29 runs each for the side.
Munis Ansari grabbed three wickets for the team while Aamir Kaleem and Khawar Ali dismissed one batsman each.
The Oman side, chasing 155 runs to win, reached the total with two wickets and two balls to spare.
Zeeshan Maqsood made 38 runs for the team from 33 balls with the help of six boundaries while Khawar Ali and Aamer Ali contributed 34 and 32 runs with the bat respectively.
Kevin O’Brien, Andy McBrine and Max Sorensen grabbed two wickets each for the Irish side.
