peghamKARACHI: The day of Ashura is being marked across Pakistan with devotion, respect and commitment to Imam Hussain (R.A) as rallies and processions are taken out from various cities on the 10th of Muharram.

The central procession in Karachi taken out from Nishtar Park at 08:30 am will conclude at the time of Maghrib prayers at Hussainia Iranian Imam Bargah. Cameras have been installed at 275 places to monitor the processions and more than 15,000 policemen have been deployed to ensure safety of the participants of the rally.

The procession will pass through its historic route of Numaish Chowrangi, M.A. Jinnah Road, Imam Barga Ali Raza, Sea Breeze, Empress Market, Regal, Tibet Centre and Bolton Market to conclude at the Hussainia Iranian Imam Barga at Kharadar.

All other rallies will join the main procession at Nishtar Park. Majalis are being held across the city to pay homage and respect to Imam Hussain (R.A) and his supporters for their sacrifice during the battle of Karbala.

Sindh CM himself is monitoring the situation from the Command and Control Centre established at the CM House in Karachi. Late night, he visited the procession route and reviewed the security arrangements.

Later, he told media that cellular services in the city will be suspended if needed.

Rallies and processions marking the occasion of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (R.A) are also being taken out in other cities across Pakistan.

Lahore’s historic main Ashura procession has commenced from Nisar Haveli that will conclude at the Karbala Gamay Shah at Maghrib. The procession will move through its route and pass from Mohallah Chehel Bibian, Imambargah Syed Wajid Ali Shah, Lakkar Mandi, Imambargah Mehdi Shah, Mobarak Haveli, Chowk Nawab Sahab, Kucha Qazi Khan, Imambargah Molvi Feroze Ali, Kucha Miskinaan, Mohallah Pir Gilanian, Imambargah Rajab Ali Shah, Chohata Mufti Baqar, Chowk Purani Kotwali, Kashmiri Bazaar, Sunehri Masjid, Dabbi Bazaar, Suha Bazaar, Gumti Bazaar, Said Mitha Bazaar, Tehsil Bazaar, Bazaar Hakiman, Unchi Masjid and Bhati Chowk.
