Karachi: Ashura procession to be taken out amid stringent security measures
KARACHI: The day of Ashura is being marked across Pakistan with devotion, respect and commitment to Imam Hussain (R.A) as rallies and processions are taken out across the various cities of Pakistan on the 10th of Muharram.
The central procession in Karachi will be taken out from Nishtar Park and will conclude at the time of Maghrib at Hussainia Iranian Imam Barga. Cameras have been installed at 275 places to monitor the processions and more than 15,000 policemen have been deployed to ensure safety of the participants of the rally.
The rally will pass through Numaish Chowrangi, M.A. Jinnah Road, Imam Barga Ali Raza, Sea Breeze, Empress Market, Regal, Tibet Centre and Bolton Market to conclude at the Hussainia Iranian Imam Barga at Kharadar.
All other rallies will join the main procession at Nishtar Park. Majlis’ will be conducted at various points across the city to pay homage and respect to Imam Hussain (R.A) and his supporters for their sacrifice during the battle of Karbala. Food and drink, more commonly known in the common tongue as niyaz, will also be distributed.
Rallies marking the 9th of Muharram were taken out from various parts in the country on Monday and concluded peacefully. Sindh CM had himself monitored the situation from the Command and Control Centre established at the CM House in Karachi.
Rallies and processions marking the occasion of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (R.A) will also be taken out in other cities across Pakistan.
