Panama Leaks: SC to hear case on daily basis, seeks responses on commission
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamalli on Tuesday remarked that the court will hear the Panama Leaks case on daily basis and will decide the matter itself.
A 5-member larger bench of the Supreme Court, comprising Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijazul Hassan, is hearing the petitions filed by PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Advocate Tariq Asad.
After hearing the arguments, the bench directed the counsels to consult the petitioners and submit their written response about the formation of a commission and whether they would abide by the ruling.
The court will resume the hearing at 1:00pm today.
PML-N leaders Khawaja Asif, Khawaja Saad Rafique and Talal Chaudhry have gone to meet the prime minister for his instructions. After the proceedings, Kh Asif said the government will accept the verdict.
On the other hand, PTI team is meeting with Imran Khan at his Bani Gala residence. Sheikh Rasheed too is at PTI chief’s home.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Asad Umar represented Imran Khan. A legal team of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has advised him not to go to the SC as he has been declared a proclaimed offender in two different cases related to the protest sit-in at the D-Chowk in 2014, and could be arrested.
