KARACHI: Law enforcement agencies took into custody Allama Syed Ahmed Iqbal, a leader of the Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen and twenty other suspects during a search operation conducted in the city on the wee hours of Monday.

Sources disclosed that seven other suspects were also arrested with the Allama Syed Ahmed Iqbal and twenty others were detained by Rangers personnel as well as police to an undisclosed location. Earlier, MQM UC chairman Aftab Ahmed was detained by law enforcement agencies but was released a few hours later. Khawaja Izhar Hassan, Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly, claimed that Aftab had not been picked up by authorities but called for interrogation.

Meanwhile, a search operation was also conducted in Patel Para, where houses were searched by law enforcement agencies for suspicious persons. According to reports, weapons were also found during the search operation and three persons were detained.

Meanwhile, 10 suspects were rounded up in a search operation at Bhingoria Goth in Azizabad by Gulberg police. Police are interrogating the suspects to obtain further information.

In Hussain Hazara Goth, police apprehended at least three suspects.
