CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand: Play on the first day of the opening Test match between New Zealand and Pakistan was washed away due to rain, according to the International Cricket Council.

Earlier, rain had delayed toss between Pakistan and New Zealand in their first Test at Hagley Oval.The match was scheduled to begin at 2:30 a.m PST but was at first delayed and then suspended as the rain continued.

This means that it will now be a 4-day Test match between both teams.
