Keamari Oil terminal fire put out after 34 hours
KARACHI: The fire fighters have brought the Keamari oil terminal fire under control after 34 hours of hectic efforts on Monday.
Two people were killed and another was missing after a methanol tank caught fire in the Keamari area, said a Karachi Port Trust (KPT) official on Saturday.
He said a blaze had erupted in the oil installation area, where private oil terminals are located, adding that the two deceased were surveyors for a private firm and another of the surveyors was reported missing.
The fire was caused due to Methanol chemical and such fires are invisible to the human eye.
Oil supply was suspended nationwide due to the fire. However, efforts were underway for the gradual oil distribution throughout the country.
The restoration procedure is expected to continue and supply to commence again within few hours.
