ISLAMABAD – Two Indian Sufi priests who were on a religious tour in Pakistan have gone missing from Lahore on Wednesday.

According to the details, Asif Nizami and his brother Nazim Nizami, who belong to the Nizamuddin Auliya shrine in New Delhi have lost contact with their family.

Pakistan’s foreign office has formally received request from Indian government to ramp up efforts for the recovery of said clerics.

The Indian high commissioner in Islamabad lodged a complaint with Pakistan’s foreign ministry.

Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also took to Twitter and confirmed taking up the matter with government of Pakistan.

‘Indian nationals Syed Asif li Nizami aged 80 years and his nephew Nazim Ali Nizami had gone to Pakistan on 8 March 2017,’ she added.
