Daily EnGISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday welcomed the agreement reached between Russia and the United States (US) for a nationwide cessation of hostilities to begin in Syria from Feb 27, said the Foreign Office (FO) in a statement.

“Pakistan has always maintained a principled position on Syria based on neutrality, impartiality, respect of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria,” said the FO spokesperson in a statement.

“We, however, remain concerned on the humanitarian crisis and the urgent need to address the refugee crisis.”

Pakistan also appreciated the efforts of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) and extended its sincere wishes for the success of the agreement.
