Commander among ten LeJ suspects nabbed in Karachi
KARACHI: Intelligence personnel on Tuesday apprehended ten suspects including a commander of banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) in a raid in Karachi, ARY News reported.
According to sources, the suspects, who reportedly belonged to outlawed LeJ’s Mufti Shahid Rehman group, were rounded up in a raid conducted in Karachi’s Rizvia area.
They were identified as Junaid ur Rehman, Abdul Haq Haidery alias Gullan Shah, Zahid Nazeer Chaudhry, Saeed Ahmed, Zafar Iqbal, Muaz Noor, Khursheed Khan, Muhammad Sajid, Fida ur Rehman and Altaf alias Shahid.
It was further reported that the suspect Junaid ur Rehman along with accomplices was planning a terrorist attack in the megapolis. Officials also seized arms, detonators and a sizeable quantity of explosives.
Sources further said that the suspects were involved in serious offences including Pervez Musharraf attack case, target killing of a PSO director, doctors and lawyers, and extortion.
They were said to have acquired terrorism training in LeJ sanctuaries in Afghanistan.
